Ninth place at Spa for Max Koebolt

Max Koebolt made another impression during the fifth European Le Mans Series of the season.
On the legandary circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, Koebolt raced to the ninth place thanks to his great speed on the large and competitive field.

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit has always been the ultimate test for both the drivers and the racing cars, with of course the famous Eau Rouge corner as executioner.
The start of the four-hour race on Sunday was a chaotic start for the entire field with several cars hitting each other in the first few corners. The same happened to Nielsen Racing’s #6 with as starting driver Koebolt partner Nick Adcock behind the wheel. The Ligier was hit hard on the rear wheel by a JMW Ferrari and ended up in the gravel. More than a lap was lost due to the incident which left the team reliant on chasing.

After Nick Adcock and later Austin McCusker completed their time behind the wheel, it was Max Koebolt’s turn. Despite the Ligier begint battered after the incident, the young Dutchma was still able to consistently belong among the fastest on the track.

It was a pity that the car was no longer optimal because we were rapidly wearing out our rear tires and with a few laps behind you, you simply can’t make it up in this competitive championship« said Max Koebolt after the race.

In the end, the Nielsen Racing Team fought itselfs back to a great ninth place but the deficit was too big to play a major role in the battle for the podium.

The last race in the European Le Mans Series will be held on October 24 at the Portuguese circuit of Portimão. “We’re going for a top five there. The track is brilliant and the perfect place to end the season,» said Max Koebolt.
